How your portrait is made

1. You answer seven questions

We ask what draws you to someone, where you feel at home, who you would like us to draw, roughly what age they should look and, if you like, a skin tone. Then your birthday, and where your heart is right now. It takes about a minute. We ask for the month and day of your birthday only, never the year.

2. Your answers become a brief

Your answers become a written brief: the person to draw, their age and the mood of the portrait. The smaller details, the color of their eyes, their hair, perhaps a pair of glasses, are shaped by your answers. The person you choose to draw is always the person we draw.

3. Your portrait is created

Your portrait is created from the brief in our signature pencil-sketch style: a quick graphite sketch on warm paper, head and shoulders, loose lines and diagonal hatching, deliberately unfinished. The same style is used for every order, so your portrait matches the examples on this site.

The face is imagined. It is made to show a fictional person who does not resemble anyone real, and it contains no text or signature.

4. Your reading is written

A short reading, around 300 words, is written from your birthday and your answers. It is warm and reflective, and it never promises you anything about your love life. You can read a full sample reading before you order.

Our method has been reviewed and approved by an independent practicing psychic we commissioned.

5. It arrives by email

You receive the portrait as a high-resolution image, ready to print, together with your reading. Delivery is usually within minutes and always within 24 hours. If something has gone wrong, such as a file that will not open or the wrong kind of person, reply to the email and we will make it again, or refund you if we cannot deliver it.

No psychic's hand makes your portrait, and we would rather you knew that before you pay. The portrait is a playful keepsake: something to smile at, share with a friend, or keep as a note of what you value. It is not a prediction, and nobody can draw the face of a real future partner.
