Privacy policy

The Soulmate Studio is operated by Westernmost LLC, a Wyoming limited liability company, 32 N Gould St, Sheridan, WY 82801, USA, which is responsible for the personal data described here. Contact: [email protected].

What we collect, and why

• Your quiz answers. Who to draw, their age, where you feel at home, what draws you in, and the optional details. We use them to write the brief for your portrait and reading.
• Your birthday: month and day only. We use them for one thing, to work out your sun sign for the reading. We never ask for the year, so your birthday cannot be combined with your age to identify you, and we do not use it for anything else.
• Your email address. To deliver your portrait, send your receipt and answer your messages. We will only send you marketing email if you ask for it, and every such email has an unsubscribe link.
• Your first name, if you give it. It is optional. We use it to greet you in your reading, your delivery email and your sketch page. For a sketch you order for a friend, it is your friend's first name.
• Your consent to start straight away. We record that you ticked the box, when, and the exact wording you agreed to, so that we can show it if there is ever a question about your right of withdrawal.
• Payment details. Payments are handled by Stripe. We never see or store your card number; we receive only the confirmation that you paid, the amount and the country of your card.

Until you reach checkout, your quiz answers stay in your own browser tab (in its session storage) and are cleared when you close the tab.

Our legal basis

We process your answers, birthday, email and first name to perform the contract you enter into when you order. We keep the record of your consent to start straight away because consumer law requires us to be able to show it. We count visits only if you allow it, on the basis of your consent.

Who we share it with

Only the service providers we need to make and deliver your order, each bound to use the data only on our instructions:

• Cloudflare, which hosts this website and runs our order system.
• Stripe, which processes payments.
• The AI provider that draws the portrait. It receives the written brief only, without your name, email or birthday.
• The AI provider that writes the reading. It receives your sun sign, your answers, the finished drawing and your first name if you gave one, without your email.
• The email provider that delivers your portrait.
• Google, for Google Analytics, only if you allow visit counting (see below). It receives visit data, never your answers, birthday, name or email.

Some of these providers are based in the United States. We do not sell your data, and we do not share it for advertising.

How long we keep it

• Everything we hold about your order, including your answers, birthday, email, first name, portrait, reading and consent record, is deleted 90 days after delivery, so that we can handle a redraw or refund in the meantime. An order that was never paid or never completed is deleted 90 days after it was started. Your private sketch page stops working at the same time.
• Payment records: kept by Stripe for as long as tax law requires.
• If you asked for marketing email, your email address is kept for that until you unsubscribe.

Counting visits, only if you allow it

When you first visit, we ask whether we may count visits. Nothing is counted and no analytics cookie is set until you choose Allow. This site never sets advertising cookies.

Google Analytics 4. If you choose Allow, we load Google Analytics 4, which sets its own first-party cookies (named _ga and _ga_ followed by an ID) and records the pages you visit, how long you stay, the type of device and browser, how you reached the site, and your approximate location derived from your IP address. We use these reports in aggregate only, to see which pages people read and where they leave, and we do not combine them with your order, your answers or your email. Google processes this data under its own privacy policy. We do not share it with advertisers and we have not linked it to any advertising product.

Our own quiz counter. With the same Allow, your browser also tells our own system about a few steps: that the quiz was opened, which question was reached, that the order page and checkout were opened, and whether an order was paid. We store only daily totals, for example "question 3 reached, 41 times on October 2", and the counter itself uses no cookie, identifier, IP address or browsing history; the totals stay in our own database at Cloudflare.

If you choose No thanks, nothing is counted and Google Analytics is never loaded. We remember your choice in your browser's local storage. You can change your choice at any time: choosing No thanks later stops the counting and removes the Google Analytics cookies from this site. You can also clear cookies for this site in your browser settings, or use Google's opt-out browser add-on.

Your rights

You can ask us to show you, correct, export or delete the personal data we hold about you, or object to how we use it. Email [email protected] and we will reply within one business day and act within 30 days. If you are in the EU or UK you can also complain to your data protection authority. California residents have the same rights under the CCPA, and we do not sell or share personal information as defined there.

Children

The Soulmate Studio is for adults. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18.
