Taurus soulmate: who tradition matches with the Bull
Virgo and Capricorn share the soil, Cancer and Pisces water it, and Scorpio looks back from across the wheel. What each pairing means, and where the idea stops.

The Taurus soulmate of astrology is someone who can match the Bull’s patience. Tradition names Virgo and Capricorn, the other earth signs, as the most comfortable fit, and Cancer and Pisces as the water signs that soften the ground. Scorpio, directly opposite, is the pairing writers describe as intense and hard to ignore. This is a vocabulary for temperament rather than a way to find a particular person, and the sections below explain each match, what astrologers say Taurus longs for, and what a birthday simply cannot reveal.
The Bull in brief
| Taurus | |
|---|---|
| Dates | April 20 to May 20 |
| Element and modality | Earth, fixed |
| Ruling planet | Venus |
| Traditional traits | Reliable, practical, stubborn |
| Trine (same element) | Virgo, Capricorn |
| Sextile (60 degrees) | Cancer, Pisces |
| Opposite | Scorpio |
Sources: Britannica’s zodiac table gives the dates, element, modality and three traits; Wikipedia’s page on astrological signs gives the ruler and the opposite. In some years the Sun changes sign a day early or late, so birthdays around April 19 to 20 and May 20 to 21 are worth double-checking.
Fixed signs, in Britannica’s wording, are the ones associated with “sustaining.” For a sign ruled by Venus, the planet astrologers tie to love and pleasure, that makes a neat summary of the Taurus reputation: slow to begin, very hard to budge once settled.
Taurus and its traditional matches
No astrologer can hand you a name. What the tradition offers is a map of angles between signs, and the angle between two earth signs is a trine, the aspect Cafe Astrology calls “similar enough to understand, and different enough to be exciting.”
Virgo: two kinds of care
Virgo is mutable earth, the adaptable version of the element. Where Taurus holds steady, Virgo fine-tunes, and astrology writers like the way the two share practical habits: plans that are kept, bills that get paid, a home that works. Britannica lists Virgo as analytical, hardworking and critical, so the usual caution is that a picky Virgo and a stubborn Bull can dig in over small things.
Capricorn: building something that lasts
Capricorn is cardinal earth, the sign that sets goals and climbs toward them. With Taurus it is usually described as the long-game pairing, two people who would rather build a life than chase a thrill. The friction the tradition expects is about pace and pleasure: Capricorn keeps working late, and Taurus would like dinner on the table and the phone put away.
Cancer and Pisces: water on good soil
Earth and water signs meet at 60 degrees, the sextile, which Cafe Astrology reads as a pair that “appreciate each other’s styles in love.” Cancer brings home and loyalty, which suits a sign that likes its comforts close. Cancer is cardinal, the modality Britannica ties to beginnings, so in this pairing the Crab is pictured setting up the home and the Bull, a fixed sign, making sure it lasts. Pisces brings imagination and tenderness, and writers often say Taurus gives the dreamy fish something solid to hold onto. Pisces is mutable, though, and the caution in the tradition is that the Bull’s routines can start to feel like a fence to a sign that likes to drift.
Scorpio: the sign across the table
Scorpio is Taurus’s opposite, the same fixed modality on the other side of the wheel. That shared stubbornness is why the match is described as so charged: neither lets go easily. Cafe Astrology calls opposite pairings “fascinating, frustrating, and intriguing” all together, and for these two the fascination usually comes from Scorpio’s depth meeting Taurus’s calm.
Lists do not agree on a favorite. Horoscope.com, as of September 2026, names Cancer and Virgo as the top love matches for Taurus, one sextile and one trine. Astrology.com puts all three earth signs and all three water signs in its best matches.
What the Bull is said to want in love
Astrology pages paint a consistent portrait here. AstroStyle calls Taurus “composed on the outside but a hopeless romantic on the inside, looking for that “love of a lifetime.”” AstrologyK says Taurus people “need partners who will give a strong commitment and who enjoy lots of physical affection.” Horoscope.com puts it simply: “When it comes to love, Taureans are all about honesty.” Astrology Zodiac Signs adds that they “need time to create a safe environment” before they relax.
The shared thread is steadiness, honesty, touch and time. The pages part ways on the shadow side: AstrologyK warns about communication once the Bull digs in, while AstroStyle focuses on a commitment-cautious, “try before you buy” style of dating. It is all description from inside a belief, and a real Taurus may be spontaneous, restless or anything else.
If you are a Taurus using this for reflection, notice what you would pick in the quiz. Asked where you feel most at home, a cabin in the mountains or a busy kitchen full of friends are both very earthy answers, and both say different things: one wants quiet, the other wants company and good food. Asked what draws you first, kind eyes or a calm voice might echo the steadiness these writers describe. Whatever you choose, it is your answer that shapes the picture, not the sign.
One example: a portrait and a few lines of reading
Example portraitTo show the voice, here are a few lines written for sample answers: a May 8 birthday, a man in his fifties, and a cabin in the mountains as the place that feels like home.
Dear Taurus, you picked a cabin in the mountains, and it is easy to imagine the woodsmoke and the second cup of coffee. Taurus is often described as a sign that loves what is solid and slow, and your answers seem to agree. The man in the portrait wears a knit sweater and a gray beard, and he has the look of someone who has fixed the porch step himself and would happily show you how.

Your birthday in the sketch
We ask only for the month and the day of your birth. A birthday from April 20 to May 20 makes your sun sign Taurus, and your reading treats that sign as astrologers do, as a tradition to reflect with. Everything else, from who we draw to the age they look and the place you call home, comes from the rest of the quiz. The portrait is imagined from your answers, not predicted, and it is not a real person.
Where astrology’s answer ends
Britannica does not soften it: “Astrology is not supported by science.” A sun sign will not tell a Taurus which person to trust, how long a relationship will last or whether a Scorpio is a mistake. It can give you a language for what you value, which is often the harder thing to name. The earth signs have their own pages, Virgo soulmate and Capricorn soulmate, and all twelve signs sit side by side in our guide to the soulmate by birth date question. Common questions
Who should marry a Taurus?
Anyone who treats a Taurus well, whatever their birthday. If you want the astrological answer, tradition leans toward Virgo and Capricorn, the fellow earth signs, and toward Cancer and Pisces as gentle water partners. Those are old conventions about temperament, and a wedding is decided by two people, not by their sun signs.
Who will break Taurus' heart?
No chart can tell you that, and it would be unkind to guess. Astrology does name the pairings it finds hardest for the Bull: Leo and Aquarius, the two signs at a square. Friction between signs is a tradition, not a sentence, and hurt comes from choices people make, never from the calendar.
Who is Taurus' true love?
There is no single sign reserved for Taurus. Astrology writers often picture the Bull's true love as someone steady and honest who enjoys slow dinners and long commitments, and they tend to name Virgo or Capricorn. Real devotion shows up in how a person behaves over years, which no zodiac list can check.
Who is Taurus's enemy?
Taurus has no enemy sign. Astrology only describes some pairings as harder than others, and for the Bull those are the squares, Leo and Aquarius, plus Scorpio across the wheel. Plenty of people born under those signs get along with Taurus beautifully, so treat the label as color, never as a warning.
